No matter how deep you've wandered into the folder tree, there's always a fast way home. The ~ symbol is shorthand for your home directory.
💡 Picture thisThink of ~ as the "teleport home" button — no matter where you are, one command sends you back.
Key points
- ~ (the tilde) is shorthand for the home directory
- cd ~ jumps you instantly back to /home/user
- Plain cd with no arguments also takes you home
